Is it possible to remove courses from the "In Progress" section of the home screen?

So I've unwittingly added some courses that I don't really plan to complete. Is there any way to remove them from the In Progress section of the Home view so they don't clutter my dashboard for all eternity?

This is a question that gets asked regularly, and for a while there was talk about a feature being added to make this possible (it isn't currently). Unfortunately, the most recent information I'm aware of about it came from former staffer Jay Padzensky on 24-Mar-2017 when he said:
