12,365 PointsIs there a Treehouse Course that utilizes Google App Engine?
I was wondering if Treehouse has a tutorial or course utilizing Google App Engine with Python. Is there one in the Python track? I'm going to be utilizing it for work and I'm fairly new to Python. Thanks in advance!

Treehouse Guest TeacherNo, we don't have anything over Google App Engine (GAE) and I don't know if we'll be doing anything that targets a specific platform like that. For the most part, Python on GAE is just like Python anywhere else. I know they have some weirdness for using Django, though, since they don't offer an SQL database. It has been quite awhile since I've messed with GAE, though, so my information could be out of date.

2,706 PointsBut you target parse.com in the iOS track??? How about an updated blog post on GAE, there is an old one from 2008 in your blog. It would be nice to at least have one focused on mobile backend using GAE.
App Engine is HOT!

Treehouse Guest TeacherFranklin De Los Santos I, obviously, have nothing to do with the iOS track or its direction.
Honestly, I haven't seen much buzz about GAE in a long time. Can you link me to some recent coverage on it so I can see what's going on?

2,706 Pointsplenty happening.
snapchat runs on app engine

and other stuff:
I think "code your own server" is nearly over(in decline), Iaas(Infrastructure as a Service)/mBaaS is the future. Things like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Parse, and BackBeam are the way forward.

I just got a job as a front-end developer (thanks to Treehouse!) and they've asked me to learn Python and GAE, so back to Treehouse I go! Again, thanks for your quick and helpful response!
