When will my Tech Degree Project get reviewed?

Hi Treehouse!

I just have a quick question. I am on the Front End Design Tech Degree and I submitted my first project 3 days ago (yay!) but I was wondering when it will get reviewed. Correct me if I am wrong, but I presumed that someone would look at it within 2 days of submission to give feedback. Is it that you will take all the projects and then review them at the end of the course?

I am slightly confused and any help will be greatly appreciated!

Kind regards

Karl

Yeah it should have been graded by now... hopefully a staffmember will see this. Ask on your TechDegree slack channel for a staff member to review it and they can probably help you. Congrats on finished your first project :)

Hi Zachary!

Thank you for your superfast response! Unfortunately I do not have access to the Slack channel because of the tier I am on - would it be possible to ask on my behalf?

I would really like to know how I am doing and if I need to make any amendments. I am really a big fan of Treehouse but I am feeling slightly disappointed that I haven't heard from anyone so far.

Thank you for trying to help.

Kind regards

Karl

The only plan that doesn't include the slack channel is the 99 dollar plan, which also does not include grading. If you are in the 99 dollar plan then you have to find someone who has knowledge of HTML/CSS/Javascript to grade your projects. I'm sorry about that, I'd suggest posting your project on the community. I'm sure someone on here would be willing to grade it. I know I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Thank you for your response Zachary.

I really appreciate your time and efforts on helping me. I am quite disappointed that this is the case as I was under the impression that part of doing the portfolio is at least someone would look at the projects that I am creating. I will not lie as now I am really asking what is the point of paying and an extra $70+ dollars a month when I can find my own projects to do online and get them reviewed by the community.

I will have to deliberate over the weekend as I may have to come off the Techdegree because I can't justify the cost as i feel I am not getting the benefits that I am paying for. This is by no means a critique on yourself. I just wish that it was clearer in the beginning.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards

Karl

I'm with Karl on this.

I've been active with Treehouse for over a year, but suspended my acct. due to changes in my life. I was aiming to join the tech degree program as it was advertised as $99 flat...no tiers, and I was sold with all you would get. Today I browse, and see tiers, and for everything...$499 a month? Sorry, I understand what's being provided, but with no guarantee of a job upon completion, I will take a car payments worth of money elsewhere.

I had such hope with Treehouse, as I love the teachers, and have learned a lot. Now I'll need to find other methods of learning how to code. I will not be re-enrolling unfortunately.

Karl, Justin: Agree with you about what we're getting for the price right now. The thing is, I think we're in a period where Treehouse are still testing out their plans at various price points, to see how many people sign up for each. I hope the testing doesn't last too much longer. I signed up for the lowest cost, $99 Techdegree tier (Python Web Development) as a sort of self-imposed trial period, and since I just started, I don't know yet whether I will stick with it.

I've looked at

  • Udacity ($199/mo and %50 refund if you're done in 12 months),
  • Launch School ($199/mo.),
  • Codementor ($69/bootcamp, but you pay extra for mentors),
  • Coursera ($300-$400 per specialization),
  • RealPython ($400 for whole program + some mentorship),
  • Codecademy Pro ($19.99/mo).
  • Then of course you could put together your own inexpensive study plan of courses through Udemy or Lynda and the vast hodge podge of free tutorials out there. But then you don't get mentoring or portfolio help or job search help.

It's actually pretty hard to choose, because they all have their pros and cons, and I keep getting stuck in paralysis by analysis.

I hope Treehouse considers bumping the $199 tier down to $99, and the $399 tier (or whatever it is this week) to $199 or even $149. I think it would make them more competitive with others in the crowded online learning space.

Btw, @ Zachary,

Someone did set up a slack channel for Techdegree students in the $99 tier. Read about it in this post
