PHP

Why is there only one main PHP course in the "Become a php developer" learning adventure?

I joined Team Treehouse as I heard it was a good place to start learning PHP. I've been a web designer for years, I have a strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and web design.

I tried reading a few PHP books and got bored and wanted to extend my knowledge so paid for the subscription. Only to find ONE course in the "Become a PHP developer" section that is primarily PHP, the rest is HTML, CSS, CSS3 and Responsive Development...

I've completed this course in one evening (I did really enjoy it) and as informative as it was, I still think further more advanced courses should be on here baring in mind the price of the subscription. The course only covered variables, arrays and a tiny bit on functions... where am I supposed to learn objects and methods, connecting to mysql, building a CMS etc...

Slightly disappointed to be honest...

Hey James - I too enjoyed the course and would like to see more PHP content. Looks like over the next couple months we will see some released: http://teamtreehouse.com/roadmap.

A series on Laravel would be a nice addition to the PHP training *nudge*.

Hey James,

Glad you enjoyed the course! I understand your disappointment. We know we need more PHP content, and I am working hard on the next course right now. You can check the Roadmap for the release dates for the next course.

I only wish I could cover everything faster!

@James Nesbitt - Treehouse is an online technology school that hires teacher in house to create original course content.

This has the benefit of creating a solid cirriculum and leaving fewer gaps then the more traditional tutorial library sites. The flip side of course is that content takes longer to be produced.

I've seen Randy putting the extra hours in for this next content, so believe me, he's doing everything he can to get it out as soon as possible! Sounds like it will be a good one, too!

If you'd like some reading material in the mean time, Randy has written a few blog posts about PHP, and we have some older posts on the site as well that are helpful: http://blog.teamtreehouse.com/category/code/php-code

Will there be courses on Laravel 4 too?

+1 for Laravel.

+1 for building a web app with Laravel. The social network course was a great course, something similar like that in Laravel would be even better!
