Graphics for 2D Games

Hey guys, I'm a passionate web developer. I enjoy working with cutting edge web technologies. Wanted to create my own HTML5 game in winter holidays. Need some help getting started with graphics for my game.

I know basic Photoshop and Illustrator, would be great if someone could suggest good resources to move forward.
