Using the return type

I got the following assignment

Modify the definition of the function named greeting to return a String and replace the println statement with a return statement. The function should return a greeting. For example, if you pass in a string "Tom" then the return string would be: "Hello Tom".

the function currently looks like this

func greeting(person: String) {
    println("Hello \(person)")
}

it does not return anything right now. we want to modify it so that it returns a string . we first need to add the return type to the function header by placing -> followed by the return type after the closing parenthesis

func greeting(person: String) -> String {
    println("Hello \(person)")
}

then we need to change the line that prints out the string, to simply return the string

func greeting(person: String) -> String {
    return "Hello \(person)"
}
