Sketching the Style for an App1:35 with Mat Helme
In this behind the scenes interview, we talk to Mat Helme about coming up with the style for Code Racer as well as his peculiar habit of sketching out everything, including code.
[Code Racer] [Behind the Scenes with Mat Helme] 0:00 I'm Google searching Code Racer. 0:05 We want to do an over-the-top homepage, like a lot of the gaming home pages are. 0:08 That's when I drew up Code Racer. 0:14 This is what Mike the Frog drives. 0:18 It's a Frogarri 5000. 0:21 A Frogarri? >>Frogarri, which I sketched out here. 0:24 It just kind of goes along with the whole theme and concept for the racing. 0:29 The user will actually be building the page for the Frogarri site. 0:33 Are we going to see any other cool cars? 0:39 Probably just this one, just as the example one. 0:41 If we have time, we'll probably throw in some more cool stuff. 0:45 So you freaking out about the lines? >>No, not yet. 0:48 Not yet. 0:52 No, we should be good. I mean, it seems like everything is on task pretty well. 0:53 Everybody is up to par on deadlines. 0:56 The only thing that's really going to be coming down to the wire 0:58 is just getting everything polished. 1:01 Has Tyken said anything mean to you yet? 1:03 I can't really repeat it right now--no, just kidding. 1:05 Do you ever break something-- 1:08 No, no. Not yet. I guess day 3 we'll break something. 1:09 I'm very pencil and paper. 1:12 So I sketch just about everything out. 1:15 I mean, I'll even sketch Code out. 1:17 Throughout the whole process I work faster that way. 1:18 [?Music?] 1:20
