Microsoft Excel is the most popular spreadsheet software for business. It's powerful toolset, and wide user base make it the best choice for business analysts.
There are many software options for creating and using spreadsheets.
Google's Sheets is a highly functional free option with
many features you'd find in commercial desktop applications.
However if you plan on using spreadsheets in a business
you almost certainly be using Microsoft Excel.
It's the most popular spreadsheet software and used by many if not most,
businesses to build spreadsheets and do data analysis and visualization.
Excel is not only popular but it's also very powerful.
It can hold more data than free options like Google Sheets.
And includes many powerful functions that business and data analysts need.
We'll be using Excel for the intermediate and
advanced spreadsheet courses here at Treehouse.
And I recommend that you purchase a copy of Excel if you don't already have one.
Sometimes Excel comes pre-installed on new computers.
So check to see if you already have a copy.
In the next few videos in the workshop I'll take you through a quick of Excel for
both Mac and Windows systems.
