The knowledge I've learned has changed my life, career path and given me opportunities that were previously unattainable.

What first drew you to the web industry?

I was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area by family members who are veterans in the space, so the "web/technology" market always seemed natural to me.

What were you doing when you first joined Treehouse & what encouraged you to learn with us?

When I first joined Treehouse I was in a professional role that was parallel to account management in the desktop advertising arena. I wanted to gain a better understanding of the engines that power SaaS applications and internet communications. I found the guided and interactive 'learn as you go' model of Treehouse to be an ideal solution.

Tell us about the work you're doing now and how your career has evolved since learning with Treehouse.

In my current professional capacity, I service two roles: technical sales lead and product support engineering. I lead software integrations in mobile environments for the major mobile platforms and ensure their functional longevity and scale. Without the concepts and skills I learned through Treehouse, I doubt I'd be where I am today.

What has the value of a Treehouse education meant to you?

In a word, priceless. The knowledge I've learned has changed my life, career path and given me opportunities that were previously unattainable. I've built and debugged websites, built apps in a few different languages and have expanded into mobile application development. In monetary terms, a Treehouse education has yielded over a 25% increase in salary.

What are your plans for the future, and what’s up next on your learning path?

For the future, I'd like to create a mobile app and corresponding server side component. Immediately next is enhancing my finesse in mobile application development and building my personal website.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with new students who are aspiring web designers and developers?

It works if you work it! Learning how to code requires that you learn a new language and then apply that language. Spend some time with your language each day, even if it's only for review. Master the basics and never be afraid to tackle what you don't know
