JavaScript JavaScript and the DOM (Retiring) Making Changes to the DOM Modifying Elements

how do I set the text content of the a tag to be the value stored in the variable linkName?

I have tried to use the following source code and I still can't seem to get past this challenge. I have no idea what I am doing wrong.

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>DOM Manipulation</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
        <div id="content">
            <label>Link Name:</label>
            <input type="text" id="linkName">
            <a id="link" href="https://teamtreehouse.com"></a>
        </div>
        <script src="app.js"></script>
    </body>
</html>
app.js
let linkName = document.getElementById('linkName').value;
let link = document.getElementsByTagName('a')[0].textContent;

linkName = link;

don't put 'textContent' at the end of your link variable. ex:

let link = document.getElementsByTagName('a')[0];

now call 'textcontent on your 'link variable and set it to equal linkName'

link.textContent = linkName;

hope this helps.

If the error is that it cannot get the elements, try putting the JavaScript source below the </body>

     </body>
     <script src="app.js"></script>
</html>
