a problem with messagesReferance.

My Android Studio says it "Cannot resolve symbol 'messagesReferance' "

The reference he was using was created in the code above.

//    TODO Get a reference to the "messages" node of your Firebase
    DatabaseReference messages = firebase.getReference(MESSAGES_FIREBASE_KEY);

The reference was called messages, not messagesReference. So it should look like

messages.addChildEventListener(this);
