Add code inside the <script> tags to write the words "Welcome to my site" onto the web page

I wrote document.write("<h1>Welcome to JavaScript Basics</h1>");

but the syntax is telling me I didn't call it. how do you do that?

Close. You have an extra parenthesis at the beginning.

Also, looks like you deleted opening script tag <script>.
