Well! well! I would say, there could be 3 issues..

  1. they may considering a string, not a number ("8.8" not 8.8)

  2. you miss something like ...?>... on the end

<h1><?php echo $movie[title]; ?> (<?php echo $movie["year"] ; ?>)</h1>

And thirdly <code>........</code>
..........
well! i forgot what it was ;)

anyway this code worked for me:

<?php
$movie=array();
$movie['title']="The Empire Strikes Back";
$movie['year']="1980";
$movie['director']="Irvin Kershner";
$movie['imdb_rating']="8.8";
$movie['imdb_ranking']="11";
?>
<h1><?php echo $movie['title'].' ('.$movie['year'].')';?></h1>

This is what worked for me:

movie = array( "title" => "The Empire Strikes Back", "year" => 1980, "director" => "Irvin Kershner", "imdb_rating" => 8.8, "imdb_ranking" => 11, );

<?php

$movie = array ( "title" => "The Empire Strikes Back", "year" => 1980, "director" => "Irvin Kershner", "imdb_rating" => 8.8, "imdb_ranking" => 11,

);

I used [] instead of array ()

<?php $movie = [

"title" => "The Empire Strikes Back", "year" => 1980, "director" => "Irvin Kershner", "imdb_rating" => 8.8, "imdb_ranking" => 11,

]; ?>
