I think the definition is correct. Indeed API also stands for Application Programming Interface, but here it's used in another way: https://nmixreallygetsme.wordpress.com/2012/01/24/advanced-programming-interface-api/

I think that blogger was making a mistake. All the links he cites use Application Programming Interface

Well he isn't the best teacher on here, its hard to learn from him. Of course it is application programming interface, not advanced

Just means it allows you to use the developers code to do certain things, but for google and amazon they charge you for using server requests.

The allot a certain amount free then charge afterward. Aka cloud services.
