Are profanity or vulgarity allowed in the forums?

If so what might the punishment be?

I'm sure they have some sort of filter for that sort of stuff.

But, the way I see it is if you need to use vulgar and profane words to express yourself, then TTH is probably not the best place for you to be. For you or for others.

You see, TTH, especially on the forums, likes to foster the 'can-do', 'atta-boy/girl' type of attitudes. This is a community learning site. Allowing the inclusion of the 'naughty' words, opens the site up to raging lunatics and ultimately a very hateful community.

I'm sure you can see that this is not the type of community that we are looking to foster. As a community of students ( whether or adult or not ), we should all be here to help each other out when and if we can. Give each other the praise that we may not get in the outside world ( my mom told me 20 years ago to give up on computers 'cause they'd take me nowhere ). Simple words of encouragement can change someones day, and change their perspective outlook on the issues they face while learning on TTH.

That is exactly the answer I was hoping to get.

I would think that they likely do not want profanity as they do have some younger students (e.g children). However I have always believed that while every word has a meaning, they also have a given weight. Sometimes it is just the best word to get your point across.

If I break my arm and says "well that hurt" or yell some form of profanity... They both show my detest to the situation however one drive my point a little bit better.
