Are 'table based layouts' for HTML email going to stick around a long time?

Just wondering if the powers at be are working on bringing HTML email up to speed with modern web design, or if this is something that people have decided is a necessary compromise that we'll have for a while.

Probably. It's the same problem as browser-compatibility, except worse. The good news is you don't have to build your emails from scratch as this course does. Take a look at these email templates from ZURB, the makers of the Foundation framework.
