arr.charAt() vs arr[index]
What is the benefit of arr.charAt(0) instead of using arr?

At one time, the benefit was reliable broswer compatibility when not all browsers recognized the bracket syntax.
Now, they mostly do the same thing except when given unconventional arguments. For example:
'abc'[true] // undefined 'abc'.charAt(true) // 'b' 'abc' // undefined 'abc'.charAt(3) // ''
