<aside> in the <main> section

Is it considered a bad practice to use <aside> tag in the <main> section since the <aside> is used for stuff that are not generally related to the main content of the page. Something like that: <main> <aside>Unrelated content</aside> </main>

I would say usually yes, bad practice. I think it's allowed but not encouraged, as in I don't think an HTML validator would mark it as incorrect.
