A...what?

Hey guys,

Another long day of looking at code and this very simple request has me stuck. I need some help and fresh eyes on this. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance!

var fullName = document.getElementById('full_name');
var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName('full_name')[1];
app.js
var fullName = document.getElementById('full_name');
var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName('full_name')[1];
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head></head>
<body>
<h1 id="full_name"><span class="first_name">Andrew</span> <span class="last_name">Chalkley</span></h1>

<script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

Im not sure exactly what your code is trying to do, what is the question?

Hi Blake,

Your 'getElementsByTagName' needs a html 'tag name', I think this is supposed to be 'span'. Then you're getting the second span (array first position is 0) , which turns out to be the 'last_name'.

var fullName = document.getElementById('full_name');
var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName('span')[1];

Ahh! I was adding the id name instead of the 'span'. Many thanks friend!
