Background size question

I'm sure he might get into this in the next video, but why not just do:

.main-header { background-size: 100%; }

Would this not make the picture fit the background borders perfectly at all times?

That would size the width of the background to fit the element, but it would leave the aspect ratio alone. Depending on what that is, the height might be too large or small.
