can i use eclipse instead of the console provided?

will this mess with anything in the course?

IIRC the console here is a terminal for BASH, so as long as your eclipse console uses the same commands (or simply is a proxy for BASH) then it should work just fine.

If you can ls, cd, and mkdir in your console, I think you're good to go.
