Can somebody explain Inline and block elements?

I want to understand them. I heard in the lessons about them, but they introduced Inline-Block elements and they didn't quite explain that. What does an Inline-Block element do? Does it do both tasks?

Hi Otto,

Here is a good stackoverflow explanation.

Kind Regards
