Can you only optional bind with Dictionaries?

The title says it all... I've tried to do it without and it never works because all temporary constants need initial values... :/ is it just for dictionaries?

I've been having the same issue , its very confusing

You can optional bind to any optional type.

var someOptional: String?
if let anOptional = someOptional {
   // you'll get to this block of code only if someOptional is not nil, and you can use anOptional to refer to its value inside this block
}
