Can you overwrite XAMPP?

I am currently running XAMPP 1.7.7. Am maintaining 1 very old PHP website for a client that locally works for testing. It's not a WordPress site, it's a PHP application, running from an .htaccess file in the root. Have not been able to run a local WP site on XAMPP 1.7.7. That's why I wanted to use your course to set up properly

The priority is for me to be sure that this old site (2002) keeps working as a test site if I install/overwrite XAMPP with a newer version. Any thoughts?

Hi, this app uses a mysql database or something like that? In every case just make sure to backup the entire folder of the installation, inside that installation folder you can find the data for the site like the pages, .htacess files and even the mysql db.

But first make sure is a standard installation of XAMPP and before you do the backup turn off the apache and mysql server, otherwise you will not be able to copy all the files.
