Can you represent matrices in JavaScript?

Would it be possible to create a matrix by adding two arrays together?

You can create a 2D array. That's an array containing arrays.

var arr = [[1, 2], [3, 4], [5, 6]]

console.log(arr[2][0]); //prints 5
