C# ASP.NET MVC Basics Modeling and Presenting Data Adding Repository Methods

Can't figure out Challenge Task 1

I tried

foreach (var vg in VideoGame)
{
return vg;
}

as well but I keep getting syntax errors.

VideoGamesRepository.cs
using Treehouse.Models;

namespace Treehouse.Data
{
    public class VideoGamesRepository
    {
        public VideoGame[] GetVideoGames()
        {
            return _videoGames;
        }

        // TODO Add GetVideoGame method

        private static VideoGame[] _videoGames = new VideoGame[]

:point_right: It looks like you're missing a few bits yet.

First, you need to create a public method like you did for GetVideoGames. Then, inside the method you may want to use a loop to look through the list of games, but you should use _videoGames as the source.

Also, your loop above just returns the very first object, but you really need to check each one to see if the Id field matches the id passed in as an argument. Only when you find a match will you then return the object.

The instructions say I am not to use any parameters. What is the difference between a parameter here and an argument.

        public VideoGame[] GetVideoGames()
        {
            foreach (var vg in _videoGames)
            {
                return vg;
            }
        }

Luke,

I'm confused by your original post. Are you trying to solve task 1 or 2 of the code challenge? You say your stuck on task 1, but the code that you posted for the VideoGamesRepository.cs file contains the correct solution for task 1.

Regarding your question about the difference between a "parameter" and an "argument"...

Given the following code:

public void Test(string name)
{
}

Test("John Smith");

name is a parameter and the value that we pass to the method, "John Smith", is the argument.

Thanks, James
