are you on task 1 of this challenge? if so the task states: Set the 'escapedNewLine' variable to the string of a new line character.

so you would just set the value of escapedNewLine to "\n"

var escapedNewLine = "\n";
var escapedBackslash = "";
var escapedTab = "";
