can't solve this

Anyone there to help figure out this step please? Tried all way as possible but can't solve this step. code attached though it's completely wrong :(

slices.py
def first_4(arg):
    return(arg[:4])

    def first_and_last_4(arg2):
        arg2 = arg2[-4:]
        return(arg2.extend(arg[:4])

You simply need to return the sum of the two slices...

def first_and_last_4(arg):
    return arg[:4] + arg[-4:]
