Can't we also use display: inline-block instead of float: left to create an horizontal navigation?

Sure, using inline-block (or just inline) would also keep each item from taking up an entire line, so they could be side-by side.

Flowed elements would receive some default spacing which the floated ones override, but you could accommodate with a smaller added margin if you wanted to achieve the same appearance.

Thank you :)
