C# C# Basics (Retired) Perform if / else

Challenge Task 1 of 1

Challenge Task 1 of 1

Print “C# Rocks!” if language equals “C#” otherwise print language + “ is not C#.” So if I entered "Cheese" then "Cheese is not C#" would be printed to the screen. Bummer! I entered "bogus". I expected "bogus is not C#.", but got "pythonis not C#." instead.

CodeChallenge.cs
string language = Console.ReadLine();

if(language == "C#") { System.Console.WriteLine("C# Rocks!"); }

else { System.Console.Write(language + "is not C#.");

}

Did you catch that magical string change?

If the error said, I entered "bogus"... but got "pythonis not C#.", there's more going on than a missing space!

You gotta wonder — how did "bogus" become "python"? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

There needs to be a space at the start of the string you append to the language variable, like this:

" is not C#."

When you append strings together they are merged without any spacing added, so if you don't add spacing manually you end up with words running together like you can see in the error message you got.

thank you that helped; all solved.
