CSS CSS Flexbox Layout Building a Layout with Flexbox Flexbox Columns Challenge

Challenge Task Help

Let's display equal -- but flexible -- widths for the columns. Create a new rule that targets the columns. Then, set the columns to evenly expand and display on one line, with an initial width of 300px.

Couldn't figure this one out :(

style.css
/* Complete the challenge by writing CSS below */

.row {
  display: flex;
}
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>

  <body>
    <div class="row">

You need to use the flex property on the .column class to give it a flex value of 1 so it flexs available space, and a width from which to flex.

.column { flex: 1 300px; }

not working

you are right! first I thought we had to do both css and html, so once I created the .column and gave it a flex, the rest of the phrase was to play with us ;)

.column { display: flex; flex-grow: 1; flex-basis: 300px; }

Here is correct answer

.row {
  display: flex;
}

.column {

  flex: 1 300px;
}

Why is the challenge error saying that I am not including the flex-basis: 300px; when it is clearly there? .secondary column, .primary column, .tertiary column { display: flex; flex-grow: 1; flex-basis: 300px; }
