failing to debug the code here where am i getting it wrong

You are not providing any way to actually add the parameter in your incrementBy function to the width and height variables. So, inside your function you'll need to do some math... ;)

yes i did realise where i was getting it wrong

 func incrementBy(points : Double){

height += points
width  += points

}

Dang, yours is better than mine! lol for some reason I didn't use the shorthand version.

    func incrementBy(points : Double){
        width = points + width
        height = points + height

    }
