I have spent a lot of time trying to fix the errors here and somehow can't find the answer. Any help will be appreciated.

You've got part of it.

But you still need to deal with output being initialized twice — and both times in scopes more limited than the one where it is used to write to the console. Try declaring it just once in the outer scope and convert the initializations to plain assignments.
