hi J, check also your -$document.ready- function:

    $(document).ready(function () {
...
});

OR more simple

    $(function () {
...
});

BUT NOT!

$(document.ready(function () {
...
});

Check the path : var url = "../data/employees.json"; try var url = "/data/employees.json"; or var url = "data/employees.json";
