iOS Swift Collections and Control Flow Control Flow With Conditional Statements Working With Switch Statements

confused on error Bummer! Remeber to append the values from each case statement to the correct array

I do not understand when it says to append the values from each case statement the correct array.

operators.swift
var europeanCapitals: [String] = []
var asianCapitals: [String] = []
var otherCapitals: [String] = []

let world = [
  "BEL": "Brussels",
  "LIE": "Vaduz",
  "BGR": "Sofia",
  "USA": "Washington D.C.",
  "MEX": "Mexico City",
  "BRA": "Brasilia",
  "IND": "New Delhi",
  "VNM": "Hanoi"]

for (key, value) in world {
    // Enter your code below
    switch capitalCities{
    case "BEL", "LIE", "BGR": print("europeanCapitals")
    case "IND", "VNM": print("asianCapitals")
    case "USA", "MEX", "BRA": print("otherCapitals")
    }
    // End code
}

Hello Chris Beal You are on the right track. Your problem is in your switch statement. It appears you are attempting to print the arrays when the challenge needs us to add to or append the arrays with the values of the dictionaries. Remember the append() syntax works like: arrayYouWantToAddTo.append(objectYouWantToAdd).

var europeanCapitals: [String] = []
var asianCapitals: [String] = []
var otherCapitals: [String] = []

let world = [
  "BEL": "Brussels",
  "LIE": "Vaduz",
  "BGR": "Sofia",
  "USA": "Washington D.C.",
  "MEX": "Mexico City",
  "BRA": "Brasilia",
  "IND": "New Delhi",
  "VNM": "Hanoi"]

for (key, value) in world {
    // Enter your code below
    switch key {
    case "BEL", "LIE", "BGR": europeanCapitals.append(value)
    case "IND", "VNM": asianCapitals.append(value)
    case "USA", "MEX", "BRA": otherCapitals.append(value)
    default: print(asianCapitals)
    }
    // End code
}
