4,445 PointsConfusing Video - sequence, errors, etc.
Was anyone else confused by this video? I am following these videos one by one, and didn't understand why we were doing the five-minute install using FTP when we had just done an install using Softaculous. It should have been made clear that this video is for people who haven't already installed using Softaculous.
Second, using Filezilla to transfer files didn't work because halfway through the 135MB transfer into the /public_html folder, I got a 421 error that said "too many connections from this IP(8)". There is no indication given in the video that this might happen. Seems like this is a common issue and Google solved the problem, but still, this stuff should be clearly marked so as to minimize user confusion.

17,730 PointsYes. You will need some way to transfer files through FTP, but no more large transfers once you get WP installed. So if you can get WP installed using the 1-click and you can transfer small files with Filezilla, you are good to go. You can also try other FTP programs as well: Filezilla alternatives

17,730 PointsTo your first question: It's always good to know more than one way to accomplish a task. I have many clients that do not have a 1-click installer for Wordpress on their domain, so I have to install using the 5min method.
Second question: I don't think it's possible to list every error that someone might encounter when transferring files to the web or working with databases. There are a host of variables in play. For example your issue, I have used Filezilla for over 10 years now, and never have encountered that error. What would be helpful for other students though is if you would post what ended up fixing the error for you.

4,445 PointsThanks for the response. You're right, it is important to know how to do things in more ways than one and I do want to know how to set up back end myself.
Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to solve my file transfer problems.
For error 421 "too many connections from this IP", I fixed it using the following steps (Windows):
- File-->Site Manager-->Transfer Settings-->Tick box "Limit Number of Simultaneous Connection" and set value to 1.
But now FIlezilla disconnects from the server with a few hundred files left to upload.
Can I continue this tutorial with the Softaculous install? I don't have time to troubleshoot the Filezilla stuff.
