Python Python Basics (2015) Logic in Python Try and Except

Could not convert string to float a

My code works in workspace, but i get Could not convert string to float 'a' in the challange. What am I missing?

    try:
        add = int()
    except ValueError:
        return None
    else:
        float(a)
        float(b)

    return float(a) + float(b)

what you are attempting to do in the try block is cast to float. if it doesn't work, the except block runs. if it does work, the else block runs. so cast to float in the try, return none in the except, and return the sum in the else.
