Crystal Ball Image Disappears when changing mode of background

I'm following with the auto layout video and when I try to change from Scale to Fill to any other mode like Center the entire image disappears and becomes a white background. I can't use Undo to bring it back and I can't figure out why it's happening. I haven't done anything except what the video does.
