I am trying to solve this exercise can somebody help me

     !checkdate($datex[0],$datex[1],$datex[2])){

    return false; 
  }

You are checking the date parts backwards. The date that is supplied to you is in this format: "YYYY-MM-DD". Simply switch $datex[0] with $datex[2]
