Designing Iphone App

Hi everyone, there is something that I really don't answer, in the iOS HIG they say that a background image should be 640*1136. I use keynote to try to design my app but when I create a rectangle with this size, the rectangle that I get is way bigger than the actual size of the iPhone screen.Why is that ? Thank a lot
