Django Serializers - Object-Level Validation

I need to add validation to the PlayerSerializer to check that, if a Player is added with an age below 13, the parent_approval value is True. If the Player isn't valid, I should throw a serializers.ValidationError with "Children under 13 require parental approval" as the error message.

This calls for object-level validation with the validate method, correct? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

It is parent_approval. You have parental_approval 

if data['age'] < 13 and not data['parental_approval']:
