A website is 3 parts:

  1. domain name: like awesome.com so people can easily remember how to get your website
  2. hosting: the files you created that make up your website, they have to live on a computer somewhere that so that everyone can access them
  3. DNS: it connects parts 1 and 2 together. When a person types awesome.com into their browser, DNS is let's the browser know where to go on the Internet to so the browser can download the files that make up your website

Like David Thomas said, namecheap.com & webhostingforstudents.com can both handle all 3 parts for you.

To have a website online you need both a domain name (thats the address www.example.com) and website hosting (thats the space on a computer called a server always to connected to the internet serving your files)

A domain name is usually charged a small fee each year whereas hosting is usually charged monthly (but depends on the provider)

hostgator, namecheap & webhostingforstudents all provide both domain name and hosting services it looks like your confusing namecheaps' domain price for hosting, as we are treehouse students webhostingforstudents is the cheapest option at $12.95/year for a .com domain and $25/year for hosting

you are the best answer! you gave me better researching! thank you so much !
