Do I need to open up workspace to follow along?

Do I need to follow along in workspace? Or do I just watch the video?

You don't have to open up workspaces. But if you do, you can save your changes and it will also help you to remember the code you've learned. But yeah, you really don't have to if you don't wish to.

Hi Kyle, Maybe a little more information about your situation would be helpful. Do you already know CSS? Or are you just starting out? The short answer is yes, if you want to learn CSS and how it affects your web page. In my opinion, Workspace is a very good text editor, and is conveniently set up for doing projects in the videos, but there are others you can use.
