Does the prepareforsegue method work for passing data between tab bar views?

I have a app that uses tab bar navigation, with three tabs for now. I want to have a button on the first tab that, when pressed, loads the second tab with information from the first tab loaded on it. How is the process different for sending data between tab bar views? Are there any videos that walk through this? Thanks!
