Don't understand instructions

Hi I don't understand the instructions on this one. I have created a variable and put the result as the returnValue . I then called returnValue with a string and nothing happens? Not sure what I am supposed to do with this one. Tried different things and used different order but doers not seem to work

script.js
function returnValue(str) {
  var echo = returnValue;
  returnValue('hello')
}
index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  <title>JavaScript Basics</title>
</head>
<body>
<script src="script.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

Hey James!

The instructions say that you need to create a function. All the function should do is return the argument that is passed to it, like so:

function returnValue(argument) {
    return argument;
}

// code for Task 2

Hope this helps!
