Drop-down box showing twice on index.html

Hello guys,

I need help with my code. For some reason, the drop-down box is showing twice on my index.html page. It only shows once in other pages.

In the HTML there's a select element. In JavaScript, another select element is appended to the div.

var $select = $("<select></select>");
$("#menu").append($select);

Make sense. Thought I needed to add the select element in my index.html page. I removed the select element to fix it. Thanks!
