employee.inoffice returns a string?

My employees were all "out of office". I console logged typeof employee.inoffice and it returned a string, so I changed if (employee.inoffice === "true") and it worked. My question is this: Is it not being parsed with getJSON?

Strange, I tried to ask the question under the video "The Office Status Project Revisited", in the ajax/jquery section but it placed it under general javascript-- I'll try again.
