Error Using Composer

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to get around this error while using composer require? I haven't downloaded it onto my local machine as being it already installed in work spaces i i did not think it was necessary.

Warning: This development build of composer is over 60 days old. It is recommended to update it by running "/usr/local/bin/composer self-update" to get the lates t version.
Search for a package: monolog

[Composer\Downloader\TransportException]
The "https://packagist.org/search.json?q=monolog&type=" file could not be downloaded (HTTP/1.1 502 Bad Gateway)
