Exception in Python - adding numbers

How did you do the third step - adding a TRY before floating the arguments?

trial.py
def add(a, b):
try:
    summ = float(a) + float(b)
except ValueError:
    return None
else:
    return summ

the only issue with this code is indentation - the body of the function needs to be tabbed over once

def myFunc():
    try:
        body
    except....:
        body
    else:
        body

Thanks a lot James for such a quick answer. Now it works.

You have to put the code inside the function.

def add(a, b):
    try:
        summ = float(a) + float(b)
    except ValueError:
        return None
    else:
        return summ
