I need help on coding the exceptions in challenge task 3 of 3

trial.py
def add(a, b):
try:
    if type(a) is not float
       print("Invalid number provided")
          return(float(a) + float(b))
except ValueError:
    return None
else:
    return c

add(4, 5)

Hi,

I think you've overthought this one, it asks you to try to turn them into floats, it if fails(except), return None, otherwise if it doesn't fail(else) return them both added together.

def add(x,y):

try:
    x = float(x)
    y = float(y)
except ValueError:
    return None

else:

    return x+y
